                                                         Playing Ground

::Capture::

PAINTBALL IS A COMBINATION of the childhood games 'tag' and "hide & seek" but is much more challenging and sophisticated. Although there are many game for mats, typically players divide into team to play "capture the flag." The number of players on each team can vary from one to two, three, five, seven or ten, to over 1,000 on a side, limited only by the size of the playing field.

The object of the game is to go out and capture the other team's flag while protecting your own. While you are trying to capture a flag, you also try to eliminate opposing players by tagging than with a paintball expelled from a paintball marker, which is a special air gun. Game time can be as shorts as two minutes for the one-on-one games, or for larger games, from five to 20 minutes.

::Game::

PAINTBALL IS A GAME AND A SPORT played from all professions and lifestyles. Men and women compete equally, and age is not dominated by youth. Like a game of chess, being able to think quickly and decisively is what makes you a star in a paintball. Intelligence and determination, not merely strength, speed or agility, are key to success in paintball.

Paintball is a character-building sport. Players learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence and develop leadership abilities while having fun and getting welcome stress-relief.  Corporation have found die benefits of having staff and management participate in paintball games for corporate training purpose, and increasing camaraderie within the company.

::Paint::

A PAINTBALL IS A ROUND, THIN-SKINNED capsule with colored liquid inside it. Paintballs are similar to large round vitamin capsules or bath oil beads The fill inside paintballs is non-toxic, non-caustic, water-soluble and biodegradable or made of naturally occurring elements. It rinses out of clothing and off skin with mild soap and water The skin of a paintball is most often gelatin, such as is used in making vitamins and thousands of food products. There are some paintballs with a starch-like skin. Certain specialty paintballs, not allowed in the game, are restricted to police and military training, or theatrical special effects uses.

Paintballs come in a rainbow of bright colors: blue, pink, white, orange, yellow, two-tone, gold, silver, and more. When a paintball tags a player, the thin gelatin skin splits open, and the liquid inside leaves a bright 'paint' mark. A player who is marked is eliminated from the game. The most generally-used paintball is approximately. 68 of an inch in diameter, and are lightweight There is a standard for paintballs, promulgated by the paintball subcommittee of the highly respected American Society for Testing and Materials, www.astm.org

                                                          Paintball Marker

::Markers::

PAINTBALL MARKERS ARE OFTEN brightly-coloured. A marker can be powered by carbon dioxide (C02), nitrogen (N2) or compressed air. The power systems generally use large refillable. Some use small 12 gram C02 powerlets as their power source, each powerlet being good for about 10 to 30 shots. Markers have different operating systems.

With PUMP-ACTION MARKERS, each time you want to shoot a paintball you first cock the marker by using a pump, then you squeeze the trigger to shoot the paintball. You must recock the marker before you can shoot again, In stock class play, using 12 grams, players are using the most basic configuration. Pump-class play involves pump markers with more advanced features.

With SEMI-AUTOMATIC markers, the first time you want to shoot you must cock the marker (usually by pulling back a small cocking knob or handle). The marker will re-cock itself with each shot and be ready to shoot the next paintball.

Markers operating in other modes such as tree-or six-round burst mode, or full auto, are generally disallowed on the playing fields by safety and insurance regulations.

The speed of a paintball is measured where it leaves the barrel's muzzle. The international safety speed limit is 300 feet per second (fps) or its equivalent in meters per second (mps). A chronograph tests for speed limits. All markers can, and must be, adjusted to shoot under the speed limit. A marker's range is limited: even shooting 300 fps with a lob shot, by the time it has traveled 150 feet the ball is falling toward the ground with very little energy. There is an ASTM standard for field operations.

                                                            Protective Helmet

::Safety::

For safety, paintball players and those in or near shooting areas must always wear a GOGGLE SYSTEM specifically designed for paintball, to protect the eyes, face, and ears. The goggles must be worn during a game and at all times when a person is in an area where shooting is permitted, such as the target range or chronograph area. Paintball is a very safe sport as long as safety rules are followed. ADTM standards for goggles have been in place for several years. The Protective Eyewear Certification Council (PECC; www.protecteyes.org) also is involved with goggle safety.

Referee on and off the field enforce safety and game rules. No physical contact is permitted in the game, and players are ejected from games or the play site for breaking safety or playing rules. Fields have boundaries, and a player who steps outside the boundary is eliminated from that game.

                                                       Complete Safety Gear

Safety rules include the mandatory use of a barrel blocking device. These are barrel plugs or barrel bags designed to stop a paintball and are used when the players is in any non-shooting area. Paintball is an exciting sport, and above all, paintball is fun! It's a chance to shake off your dayo-to-day responsibilities and rekindle your spirit of adventure. When the adrenaline starts pumping, you can't help but love the thrill of the game!!!
